JESSICA SIMPSON angered some Native Americans recently by using the phrase "Indian Giver". When someone tried to call her out on it, she said she IS an Indian. And it turns out she wasn't lying!
Jessica's rep says she's one-sixteenth Native American on her mother's side.
DOUBLE IDOL NEWS...
It's now OFFICIAL: KARA DIOGUARDI will return to "American Idol".
Executive Producer Simon Fuller says, quote, "We are so happy to welcome back Kara for her second season with 'Idol'. She is a breath of fresh air, and her passion for music and her understanding of talent is invaluable."
There's still no word on the status of PAULA ABDUL'S contract negotiations...but we'll probably be hearing something within the next few days.
ALSO: "American Idol" reject KIMBERLEY LOCKE, who came in third place on Season Two, will host a new reality show called "Making the Curve".
The show is still in the development stages...and doesn't have a network yet.
According to the "New York Post", "Making the Curve" will follow, quote, "talented, plus-size women as they prove that they have what it takes to form a hit pop musical group."
MARIAH CD TO BE PACKED WITH ADVERTISING!
Island Def Jam has announced that the new MARIAH CAREY album, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel", will come with a 34-page booklet...packed with ads.
The booklet is being described as a "mini-magazine". It'll have lyrics and liner notes like a typical CD booklet...but it will also feature a ton of additional material, which was created in conjunction with "Elle" magazine.
This will include stories about Mariah...with titles like "VIP Access to Her Sexy Love Life", "Amazing Closet" and "Recording Rituals." And the ads will be for things like Elizabeth Arden, Angel Champagne and the Bahamas Board of Tourism.
Island Def Jam boss L.A. REID explains, quote, "The idea was really simple thinking: 'We sell millions of records, so you should advertise with us.'
"My artists have substantial circulation...when you sell 2 million, 5 million, 8 million, that's a lot of eyeballs. Most magazines aren't as successful as those records."
Reid says that Mariah was, quote, "very open" to the idea...especially since the ads were for things that she was cool with being associated with.
Reid says that's what he was going for...quote, "I wouldn't want to do Mariah Carey and Comet abrasive cleaner. I wanted things that really reflected her taste."
Obviously, this new "business model" is an attempt to increase revenues...despite YEARS of plummeting album sales across the board. (Just this year, album sales are down 13.9%...compared to the numbers at this time last year.)
If this is a success, Island Def Jam could produce similar booklets for upcoming albums by RIHANNA, KANYE WEST, BON JOVI and others. And there's a good chance that other labels will follow suit.
A shorter version of the booklet...minus the album-specific content...will appear in the October issue of "Elle" magazine, which hits newsstands in mid-September. ("Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" comes out on September 15th.)
A version of the booklet will also accompany digital albums purchased online. (We assume it'll come as a PDF file, but it's unclear how that will work.)
CHRIS BROWN...REPLACES DRAKE...WHAT?!?!
CHRIS BROWN made a surprise appearance on the America's Most Wanted tour on Sunday night in Virginia Beach. (The tour features LIL WAYNE, YOUNG JEEZY, SOULJA BOY and JEREMIH.)
He appeared toward the end of the show...to perform DRAKE'S part of the song "Every Girl". Drake wasn't there, and he won't be back anytime soon...if at all. As I told you yesterday, he fell and went boom!
It's unclear whether Chris' appearance was a one-time thing, or if he'll be joining the tour to replace Drake. You can watch some video of Chris at the show at the link below.

Interestingly enough, Drake and RIHANNA are good friends...and at one point, there were even rumors that they were dating after she and Chris broke up.
They denied that they were anything more than friends...but regardless, it DOES beg the question: Would Drake be cool with Chris, OF ALL PEOPLE, taking his spot on the tour...or has he already forgiven Chris for what he did to Rihanna?

This survey took place in the UK, but we have no doubt the results would be similar here in the States.

But, ladies, before you get all high and mighty, you should know that the average woman spends more than 20 minutes a day checking out SIX different guys. That adds up to just over FIVE full days a year. And it means that between the ages of 18 and 50, the average woman spends roughly SIX MONTHS of her life checking out guys.
