DAILY UPDATE: AUGUST 19

GO TO CA. STATE FAIR...OR, NEVERLAND?
Four of the rides from MICHAEL JACKSON'S Neverland Ranch will be featured at the California State Fair, which opens this Friday in Sacramento and runs until September 7th.

They're all kiddie rides...they include a merry-go-round and one of those circular tracks with Jeeps going around it. And they'll be FREE to the first 5,000 guests every Friday during the fair

The rides are being brought to the fair by Butler Amusements...which bought them from Michael last year.

SIMON IS SAD...
SIMON COWELL is still talking about how sad he'll be without PAULA ABDUL on "American Idol".
He tells Fox News, quote, "I always thought she was the heart of the show. I'm not the heart, I'm not even the brain actually. But she was the heart, so you've taken that away so it's a different show. I'm sad, I am."

And he adds, quote, "She's taken the decision in her life now, which you have to respect her for making the decision.

"I didn't want to get involved in what was going on because it wasn't really any of my business but I spoke to her a lot through the whole process.

"I'll probably see her next week. I'm going to listen to what she wants to do next. I will support her in anything she wants to do next. I think she is TV gold, genuinely."

Whether you LOVED Paula or HATED her, you have to admit...it WILL be a different show without her. To call her the "heart" of "Idol" may be debatable, but I think we can all agree that she was, as Simon puts it, "TV gold."

RANDY JACKSON has also issued another comment...(which, once again, was without of his omnipresent catch-phrases and pseudo-ghetto slang.)

He said, quote, "[We] started this journey together so I'm really shocked and really proud and really just couldn't believe she's not here. We love her...It was a really a tough time as you can imagine."

JONAS ON "IDOL"...YUCK!
JOE JONAS has been tapped to be the next "American Idol" guest judge. He'll be sitting in on the Dallas auditions, which go down on Monday.

But that's not all: Word has it that former "Idol" winner KELLY CLARKSON will be joining Joe...but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

KELLY CLARKSON...REALLY?
This past Saturday night, KELLY CLARKSON serenaded "Twilight" stud ROBERT PATTINSON at a concert at the Illinois State Fair. Now, you may be thinking: "What was Robert Pattinson doing at the Illinois State Fair???"

Well, he wasn't ACTUALLY there. Instead, Kelly sang her song..."I Want You"...to a CARDBOARD CUTOUT of Robert.

NEW MARIAH SINGLE...
The next single off MARIAH CAREY'S upcoming alum, "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel", will be...a FOREIGNER cover.

Mariah has recorded a gospel version of their 1984 hit, "I Want to Know What Love Is". The single will be released...(officially, at least)...on September 29th. That's the same day the album is scheduled to come out.

LIL WAYNE HAS MORE LIL ONES ON THE WAY...
Yesterday, LIL WAYNE confirmed that his THIRD child is on the way.

In a radio interview, he confirmed rumors that actress LAUREN LONDON is expecting his baby.

Lauren is probably best known for her role in the movie "ATL", but she's also appeared in "This Christmas" and "I Love You, Beth Cooper".

When Wayne was asked about the rumor...he responded, quote, "That's not rumors...that's a kid, that's a child, that's a life. You don't hide from that."

There's no word on a due date yet...but MTV News says that Lauren is "several months" pregnant. We also don't know whether it's a boy or a girl...but Wayne has one of each already. (The child will be Lauren's first.)

He has a nine-year-old daughter named Reginae with his ex-wife Toya Carter...and a nine-month-old son named Dwayne Michael Carter The Third. (The identity of the boy's mother is still unknown. She's just described as "a college student.")

LIL WAYNE CANCELLED TWO SHOWS IN CANADA...DUE TO A MYSTERIOUS "ILLNESS":

Even though he was apparently conducting radio interviews yesterday...
LIL WAYNE was forced to cancel two shows in Canada earlier this week, due to an unspecified "illness." His America's Most Wanted tour was supposed to hit Vancouver on Monday night...and Edmonton last night.

But both shows were cancelled at the last minute. Wayne's people issued a statement saying, quote, "Lil Wayne, due to illness, was advised by his doctors to cancel the tour stops in Western Canada.

"Wayne, his band and crew arrived in Canada with full intention of performing but were forced to cancel the dates due to doctor-mandated rest." (The statement didn't mention anything about the dates being rescheduled.)

For what it's worth, there's a RUMOR that the shows might have been cancelled because Canada stopped Wayne at the border...because of his criminal record. He is currently fighting gun charges in Manhattan and drug charges in Arizona.
